Two factors determine the Property Tax Rate for the Town of Holbrook, MA:

1. Property Tax Levy this represents the monies to be raised by the property tax. The amount to be raised through taxation is determined by Town Meeting and the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2.

2. Total Assessed Value this is the Total Assessed Value for all properties

Determining the Tax Rate The Tax Rate is calculated by dividing the total amount to be raised by taxation, by the total assessed value of all property, by 1,000 (i.e. Tax Rate = Tax Levy/Total Assessed Value/1,000).

The Tax Rate is expressed in terms of dollars per $1,000. For example, if a home is assessed for $300,000 and the tax rate is $20.90, then the annual tax bill would be computed as follows: $20.90 X ($300,000/1,000) = $6,270.00
