Two factors determine the Property Tax Rate for the Town of Holbrook, MA:

1. Property Tax Levy – this represents the monies to be raised by the property tax. The amount to be raised through taxation is determined by Town Meeting and the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2.

2. Total Assessed Value – this is the Total Assessed Value for all properties

Determining the Tax Rate – The Tax Rate is calculated by dividing the total amount to be raised by taxation, by the total assessed value of all property, by 1,000 (i.e. Tax Rate = Tax Levy/Total Assessed Value/1,000).

The Tax Rate is expressed in terms of dollars per $1,000. For example, if a home is assessed for $400,000 and the tax rate is $12.11, then the annual tax bill would be computed as follows: $12.11 X ($400,000/1,000) = $4,844.00
